Face Lift Introduction
With ageing, the skin loses elasticity and start to sag. A face lift is a common cosmetic surgery treatment for people who are concerned with deep wrinkles and loose skin on the lower two-thirds of the face.
The results can dramatically rejuvenate your face by tightening the skin and smoothing out wrinkles.
A facelift (technically known as rhytidectomy) can’t stop the ageing process. What it can do is “set back the clock,” improving the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the skin on your face and neck.
To achieve the best results, you may also need to combine a face lift with other procedures such as eyelid surgery, Botox® injections or/and lipofilling.
Benefits of Having a Face Lift
- Reduce the signs of aging in the face
- Tighten loose and sagging skin
- Improve overall facial contours and jaw line definition
- Restore youthful volume
- Give the face a more youthful, refreshed look
A face lift treatment is usually performed under a general anesthetic. The procedure generally involves an incision around the hairline.
The skin and fat tissues are then lifted off the underlying muscle and fascia as far forward as is necessary to correct the loose skin problem. The underlying muscle and fascia can be tightened with sutures if the surgeon feels it is necessary. The skin is pulled back and upwards and the excess skin removed. The wound is then closed with sutures and skin staples. Bandages are then applied.
